RGA'S APARTMENT PRICE INDEX
The Republic Geodetic Authority presents the apartment price index for the Republic of Serbia and for the first time provides citizens and the economy with free, transparent and precise insight into the data on the basis of which they can monitor developments in the property market.
Successfully solving the housing issue is one of the most important life decision and major financial one for most households. In Serbia, as well as in the countries of Southeast Europe, investing in property is traditionally one of the most common forms of long-term savings. The property market is an indispensable support of any successful banking system, not only because of citizens who take housing loans, but also because of businesspersons and entrepreneurs who use properties as collateral to secure loans necessary for the growth of their business.
Monitoring the trends of property prices and turnover is very important for the successful management of economic policies and the development of society. From an economic point of view, construction industry, as the carrier of economic development, is most directly connected to the property market.
The apartment price index for the Republic of Serbia was developed in accordance with international methodological guidelines and on the basis of a model for the mass valuation of apartments, which, in addition to prices from sales contracts, also takes into account various characteristics of properties from relevant sources - the Property Price Register, the Real Estate Cadastre, the Condominium Register, GeoSrbija and tax administrations.
Precise and credible monitoring of trends in the property market is necessary so that all social and economic segments can function as efficiently as possible and so that economic policymakers can monitor and react to potential risks in a timely manner.
