Agricultural Land Cover Map


The map of agricultural land cover is a thematic display of crops in a certain territory. In the process of creating these maps, a multitemporal approach is crucial, as imagery from different time epochs is used, which follow the phenological development of crops, and cover the same geographical area. On the territory of the Republic of Serbia, this product was created for an area of about 15,000 km2 based on SPOT 6 satellite imagery, with 6 m GSD, collected in 2013. The map is available in raster and vector format.

The classes of the agricultural land cover map are:

  • Artificial surfaces;
  • Winter crops (wheat, oats, barley, rye, oilseed rape);
  • Summer crops (corn, sunflower, soy, tobacco);
  • Summer crops (potatoes, sugar beets);
  • Other (fodder plants, vines, orchards, spring crops, bare land);
  • Grasslands;
  • Shrubs;
  • Forests;
  • Wetlands;
  • Water surfaces.

The general accuracy rating for the agricultural land cover map for the territory of AP Vojvodina is 80 %, and for the area east of Belgrade it is 67 %. Accuracy assessment was performed on the basis of control points collected in the field.
