Basic Land Cover Map
The basic land cover map represents the classified content of biophysical phenomena on the Earth's surface. The map was created for the territory of the Republic of Serbia using SPOT 5 satellite imagery with 10 m GSD collected in 2011. The product is made in accordance with the INSPIRE specification for the theme of land cover.
10 basic classes are classified:
- Artificial surfaces;
- Bare land;
- Agricultural lands:
- Grasslands;
- Shrubs;
- Deciduous forests;
- Mixed forests;
- Evergreen forests;
- Wetlands;
- Water surfaces.
Based on the control points that were collected for the territory of the entire country using independent sources, a general assessment of the accuracy of the classified content of the basic land cover was carried out and it is 86.16 % for the entire territory of the Republic of Serbia. The map is available in raster and vector format.
